Job Summary

UTEC's Enterprise Kitchen Associate supports UTEC's Culinary Social Enterprises with the delivery of
internal young adult meals and early education meals, and supports the catering department with prep
and kitchen work. They will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and organization of a
commercial kitchen, and observing proper food safety and food handling procedures at all times.


 

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Daily meal preparation for up-to 50 individuals
  • Observing proper food safety procedures including: product rotation and organization, safe food
    handling practices, and food-safe cleaning procedures.
  • Willing to serve and support, including working alongside, young adults age 17-25 with lived
    experience
  • Take inventory and maintain product par levels
  • Schedule flexibility, with ability to work a primarily Monday-Friday first shift schedule; ability to
    work occasional evenings or weekends will be favorably considered
  • Prep and delivery of meals daily
  • Cleaning surfaces, equipment and washing dishes during each shift
  • Observing proper food handling procedures at all times
  • Product rotation, inventory par management
  • Positive attitude, willingness to share space with other staff and young adults
    with lived experience


 

Required Skills/Abilities 

  • Ability to prep and cook meals to scale
  • Ability to be a team player, take guiding and coaching, and work independently
  • Ability to observe proper food handling procedures at all times
  • Ability to maintain cleanliness of a commercial kitchen before, during and after
    every shift


 

Education and Experience

  • Prior restaurant or commercial cooking experience required
  • ServSafe Food Handler certification required **can be obtained through UTEC**
  • Allergen Awareness Certification required **can be obtained through UTEC**
  • ServSafeManager certification strongly preferred


 

Physical Requirements

  • Work standing for extended periods
  • Some bending, stooping, and/or squatting
  • Possible exposure to different temperatures and humidity levels
  • Exposure to food allergens (peanuts, tree nuts, soy, fish, shellfish, wheat, eggs, milk)
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull weights of up to 60 pounds

This is a part time role of 30 hours per week, with a pay rate of $21 per hour.
